  • ISOCARP requires that at least one of the authors of a paper or case study pay a registration fee by 31 August 2020 in order to present their contribution during one of the virtual events of the Congress and for the paper to be published and included in the proceedings. Failure to register will result in withdrawal of the submission from the conference proceedings and programme. The rest of the co-authors and other participants who will register for the Congress will enjoy the same access to the virtual events.
  • The Congress Team members of each track will decide on the presentation schedules once all contributions and registration fees have been received. All full paper contributions of authors who registered for the virtual activities will be included in the April 2021 edition of the proceedings.
  • The in-person gathering of delegates in Doha, Qatar will take place in November 2021 as the grand finale of the 56th ISOCARP World Planning Congress. Under the same but expanded theme of "Post-Oil Cities: Planning for Urban Green Deals", there will be a second and third round of call for abstracts in November 2020 and March 2021, respectively. All accepted abstracts for these two rounds will be invited for full contribution and presentation during the in-person Congress in Doha, Qatar in November 2021, corresponding to the in-person Congress registration fees. Full paper contributions for the second and third call for abstracts will be included in the November 2021 edition of the proceedings. ISOCARP will also invite the authors of selected best papers from the first round of submissions (i.e., those received until August 31, 2020) to present their work during the in-person Congress in Qatar.
  • The author, by submitting a paper for the 2020 ISOCARP Congress, guarantees that the work submitted is original and has not been previously published.
  • Different terms apply to those with approved session proposals and special sessions. While session proposers also need to register on time to guarantee a slot in the Congress events, you do not need to submit anything yet by the 31st August 2020 deadline. We will contact you individually regarding the next steps as soon as the programming of sessions starts.
  • We strongly recommend all participants of the virtual and in-person 56th ISOCARP World Planning Congress to join ISOCARP as a member or to renew their memberships timely.
